One World is headed by book world superstar Chris Jackson who launched it last year. He also publishes JAY-Z and Ta-Nehisi Coates.

It was previously reported that Kaepernick was seen “taking meetings with publishers in the New York offices of WME” to shop the planned book. Carlos Fleming reps Kaepernick as an athlete, the book deal went through Andy McNicol on the Hollywood agency literary department, according to the publication.

While he was a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers last year, Colin Kaepernick began the demonstration of sitting, then kneeling during the national anthem to protest racism, oppression, and police brutality against black people. Numerous players have since joined the protest, prompting several statements from President Donald Trump, which ironically led to more players protesting.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell along with NFL owners, the NFLPA, and several current players held their regular meeting in New York City and the protests were a major topic. It was decided that a rule would not be put in place to make the players stand, but the league will work with the players to tackle the underlying issues in their communities. Kaepernick was not invited to the meeting but stated he would be open to others in the future.

Kaepernick is still unemployed and filed a controversial collusion grievance against league owners. He and many others believe he’s being blackballed by the league for starting the protest.
