Lane Bryant Commercial Banned Due to ‘Indecency’

NBC and ABC have reportedly banned a Lane Bryant commercial featuring plus-size models, according to TMZ.

The unaired 30-second spot features brief nudity as well as a breastfeeding model.

“As part of the normal advertising standards process, we reviewed a rough cut of the ad and asked for minor edits to comply with broadcast indecency guidelines,” NBC told the Daily News. “The ad was not rejected and we welcome the updated creative.”

Lane Bryant said that the ad was rejected “as-is”  and are considering whether or not to re-submit it, a rep told The Daily News.

“I don’t think these models are any more nude than any other models we’ve seen on TV,” the rep said. “This was not a hard-hitting conversation about body positivity. This was a playful way to engage our women and all women.”

Personally as a plus size woman myself I’m offended that stations are banning this when there are so many other commercials with more nudity and “skinny ppl”. Continuing to all these types of stereotypes is appalling.
