Lil Eazy E Gives Tour of Garage Studio
Lil Eazy-E, son of the late Eazy-E, recently provided TMZ with a tour of the place where the group N.W.A first got its start. Joined by Dr. Dre’s son, Curtis Young, Lil Eazy-E offered a tour of the Compton, California garage studio where those in N.W.A recorded their early records.
During the tour, Lil Eazy-E pointed out original items, including a set of speakers. He even made reference to a drawer in the garage, which contained original lyrics. “It all started in this area right here,” Lil Eazy-E said. “Where they had boards. Dre had a board. Those [are] original speakers from back then. Just shit that we kept along. Original speakers on the other side. And we have a drawer where it’s original lyrics…That’s where they did certain N.W.A hits and cuts. Or Ren was over here writing, late night. [They] were crashing here, of course…Just some O.G. history.”
Lil Eazy-E’s tour of the place where N.W.A got its start comes days after the N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton was released in theaters. Although Lil Eazy-E was unable to play the role of his father in Straight Outta Compton, he did offer advice to Jason Mitchell, the actor who plays Eazy-E in the film.
“Jason has come to my grandmother’s house where I was born and raised, where my father was born and raised and where N.W.A started,” he said during an interview with Rolling Stone in 2014. “I reached out to him to give him the support and any advice he needs. He has a big burden on his shoulders to bring forth the character and legacy of my father and the legacy of N.W.A, period…I’m not upset about [the casting]. What Cube did was a great thing and a loving father, that you’re supposed to do for your family and your legacy.”
