Interview with Amir White

StreetsOnPoint and MzOnPoint finally found time in Amir White busy schedule to sit down for an interview, so allow us to introduce to you Amir White!!!

(Q) What’s good? How long have you been a fan of music? And who might be some of your favorite music artist that influenced you to want to become an artist?

(A) I been busy in the studio making music just released a new single Maybe and finishing up the video right now.

I started singing around the age of five. many people thought I was just making noise, but I was singing from the heart singing along with commercials and songs.

I am influenced by Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Boys to men and many more.

(Q) Tell us about the day when you realized that you really had some talent? Was it a song that you recorded? Was it a verse that you wrote? Was it feedback from friends and family? What made you say making music and taking it seriously is what you wanted to do with your life?

(A) It was when I heard “Can We Talk” by Tevin Campbell. I knew this was what I wanted to do!

I would sing around my family and friends and one day i began singing at the top of his lungs and everyone became quiet, instead of telling me to “shut-up” everyone started clapping and encouraging me to sing.

When I sing, I am free and it releases all of my emotions. It is a therapy for me. My whole life people have told me that I have an anointing.

(Q) What’s your label situation? And how important is management to your career at this point and time?

(A) I am an unsigned artist and absolutely independent. Management means everything to me and without my team I do not know where I would be. My team really has my back and the world that is priceless!

(Q) What projects have you been working on? And do you have any mixtapes, albums, or single releases that’s available? And if so where can our readers purchase your music?

(A) I just completed a project ‘Maybe’, co-produced with Morgan Matthews and distributed by Universal Music Publishing Group. The video for Maybe is  soon to be released putting the finishing touches on it. Three more songs are scheduled to be completed and should be released over the next several months to add to my current catalog which is available on all major platforms but if you want to really see what I have including exclusives visit www.amirwhite.com.

(Q) From the beginning of your career till now what’s one of the most important lessons that you have learned in order for you to survive in this industry?

(A) The most important lesson that I have learned is to know the business, do not let others influence your artistry and do as much for yourself as possible.

(Q) What is the worst advice you see or hear given in the music industry?

(A) I always hear people tell young artists not to use YouTube beat but we all need to start somewhere and, in the beginning, you just have to start!

(Q) What advice would you give other up and coming artist who’s out there grinding and doing their own thing as far as networking with other artist, producers and promoter’s?

(A) Talk to people and do not be afraid to reach out to people and ask questions or for advice and help. The only thing you can get is a ‘no’ and if you get a no, you still have succeeded because you at least got a response.

(Q) Finally, thanks for sitting down with us and allowing us to introduce you to our readers. Any last words?

(A) Follow your heart and go to Amirwhite.com!
