What police say
Kentwood police said Cisneros was shot early Monday on Kalamazoo Avenue Southeast near Gentian Drive Southeast. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Another person was also shot in the incident and was hospitalized. Police said that person’s injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.
Authorities have not publicly described what led to the shooting or said what relationship, if any, existed between the people involved.
The investigation
Detectives said they arrested Guerrero and Lagunes-Munoz on Tuesday as they continued to investigate the homicide. Police have not said what evidence led to the charges, but arrests in shooting cases often follow interviews, witness statements, scene processing and review of physical or electronic evidence.

In cases like this, investigators typically keep working after arrests are made to confirm timelines, compare statements and determine whether additional charges are warranted. Public tips can help fill gaps, especially when a shooting happens in the early morning hours and witnesses may be limited.
What the charges mean
An open murder charge means prosecutors have not yet settled on the exact degree of homicide they believe can be proven. It is used early in a case when the facts are still being examined and the final charge can later be narrowed or adjusted.
A charge of possession of a weapon by a prohibited person generally alleges that someone barred by law from having a firearm had one anyway. Felony firearms charges usually involve using or carrying a gun during the commission of another felony.
A lying to a peace officer charge can be brought when investigators believe a person gave false information during a violent-crime probe. If charges are filed, the case will move through the court process, where evidence can be challenged and the state must prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
What happens next
With arraignments already held, the case will now move into the next stages of the criminal court process. That can include pretrial hearings, further evidence review and decisions about whether plea talks, amended charges or a trial are ahead.
In homicide cases, the prosecution and defense often spend months sorting through reports, witness accounts and forensic material before the case reaches a final resolution. Police said the Kentwood investigation remains open.
