Beanie Sigel & Turk to Perform at Shawty Lo’s Memorial Concert
Thousands mourned after learning of the sudden death of Atlanta’s own, Shawty Lo, on Wednesday.
The timing of his passing was an eerie development for family, who were still grieving the loss of Shawty’s father to a heart attack earlier this month. As a matter of fact, Thursday [September 22] was scheduled to be a day in which the King of Bankhead, as he was affectionately known, had been gearing up to do a show in his old man’s honor.
It is now being reported that the show will go on, as organizers have taken the reins to transform the event into a memorial for the late rapper. Manager Johnnie Cabbell has confirmed the tribute, sharing that the show, which was originally set to feature Shawty headlining with a performance of a new song he had titled “Letter to My Father,” will now star such artists as Beanie Sigel and Turk of the Hot Boys. Friends and fans of the beloved artist will be on hand to take it all in, at Club Oxygen in Baltimore.
Shawty Lo was declared dead by the southbound I-285 road in Atlanta, at around 2:20 a.m., after being ejected from his car, which had crashed over a guardrail, hit several trees and caught fire. Two of the vehicle’s passengers remain in the hospital, where they are being treated. They are expected to live.
