It looks like the legal weight which has been sitting on Kevin Gates is about to lift. According to TMZ, the New Orleans rapper will be getting out on parole next Wednesday, January 10. Gates, real name Kevin Jerome Gilyard, got in trouble back in 2015 after he allegedly kicked a fan who grabbed onto his shorts during a concert. The Lakeland, Florida police department filed a criminal complaint against Gates, charging him with simple battery. Judge Sentences Meek Mill to 2-4 Years Prison
A Philadelphia judge ruled that Meek Mill recently violated his probation after being arrested in March for misdemeanor assault and also in August for reckless driving and reckless endangerment. While both charges have been dropped, the judge ruled that the incidents violated Meek’s probation and he was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison. In a decision that legal experts say may spell out doom for so-called ‘sound-alike music,’ a New Zealand judge has ordered the country’s main conservative political party to pay Eminem’s publisher for their use of a song that closely mimics the 8-Mile song “Lose Yourself,” during a 2014 campaign run. The National Party purchased a tune called “Eminem-esque” from the stock music library, Beatbox, for its parallels to the movie-score track.
