Jame Foxx in New Verizon Commercial
Sunday’s big NBA Finals Game 7 showdown might not have come with the half-time entertainment of a Super Bowl game, but viewers, particularly hip-hop fans, got a good laugh seeing Jamie Foxx’s impersonation of Future’s father during a Verizon commercial spot. “Past,” as Foxx calls himself in the music video-styled clip, raps auto-tuned bars that take on rival AT&T and advertize the company’s service features. Donning a leisure suit and wide brim hat, the dredlocked Foxx goes about dabbing and adlibbing in the likeness of the Atlanta rapper, while his “Commas” instrumental plays. “It ain’t about can you hear me now, it’s about can you see me now,” he says…

Tyler Perry Leaves Madea For TMNT
While Madea has been extremely good to Tyler Perry, and vice versa, parenthood changes folks. NASA’s African American Mathematicians
The story of the space race has been told from a million angles. But there’s one perspective that our pop culture has long overlooked: the voices of African American women who worked at NASA as mathematicians. In her upcoming book Hidden Figures, author Margot Lee Shetterly describes the lives of women like Katherine Coleman Goble Johnson who played significant roles in Americans getting into orbit and then to the moon. They worked as NASA’s first computers, crunching numbers long before the invention of the hardware we call computers today.
