‘Daytime Divas’ Canceled
“Daytime Divas” has been canceled after airing just one season on VH1, Variety has confirmed. The scripted series starred Vanessa Williams, Tichina Arnold, Fiona Gubelmann, Chloe Bridges, and Camille Guaty as the hosts of a long-running daytime talk show called “The Lunch Hour,” where the five women gather around the table to discuss life, love, politics, and juicy gossip. Nick Cannon Joins Protesters in St. Louis
Actor and comedian Nick Cannon joined protesters in St. Louis frustrated with the acquittal of former officer Jason Stockley who fatally shot a black man in 2011. Over the last few days, protests have engulfed St.Louis as many are dissatisfied with the not guilty ruling handed by St. Louis Circuit Judge Timothy Wilson. Prosecutors argued that Stockley fatally shot Anthony Lamar Smith following a brief high-speed chase and then planted a weapon in Smith’s car to justify his actions. It looks like Jon Favreau, the director of the live-action remake of The Lion King, may get his wish of Beyoncé voicing the future Queen of Pride Rock, Nala. According to the Beyhive Team, a social media page and site that receives “exclusive” news regarding the entertainer, Beyoncé is reportedly in final negotiations to voice the lioness, and is also signing on to manage the film’s soundtrack. “Disney has reportedly agreed to pay a whopping $25 million to secure Beyoncé’s involvement with the project,” the post says. Rapper, actor, and movie producer Ice Cube received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday (June 12) in front of the Musicians Institute on Hollywood Boulevard. Rihanna has been named the 2017 Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year. The Grammy Award-winning singer will receive the Harvard Foundation‘s Peter J. Actor and comedian Ricky Harris, who played the character “Gangsta” in John Singleton‘s “Poetic Justice” passed away at the age of 54. Actress Gabrielle Union fired off a lawsuit against BET, claiming the network tried to short-change her by stuffing more episodes into a single season of her show “Being Mary Jane” than she agreed upon, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 42-year-old star contends producers for the hit series vowed that seasons would never run more than 13 episodes, but they’re now trying to jam 20 shows into Season 4.
