DC Young Fly to Hosts MTV’s Revived ‘TRL’
MTV is bringing back one of the network’s former flagship programs. TRL (Total Request Live) returns to the cable channel on October 2 with five rotating hosts. Among the new faces to take the helm of the revived TRL is Atlanta-raised comedian DC Young Fly. The 25-year-old internet personality is a regular on MTV’s Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘n Out and a co-host for The 85 South Show podcast. It looks like Jon Favreau, the director of the live-action remake of The Lion King, may get his wish of Beyoncé voicing the future Queen of Pride Rock, Nala. According to the Beyhive Team, a social media page and site that receives “exclusive” news regarding the entertainer, Beyoncé is reportedly in final negotiations to voice the lioness, and is also signing on to manage the film’s soundtrack. “Disney has reportedly agreed to pay a whopping $25 million to secure Beyoncé’s involvement with the project,” the post says. Beyonce’s legal team is going to have to work a little harder to slay a copyright infringement lawsuit over her hit “Formation.” Spoken word from the late Anthony Barre — also known as Messy Mya — is featured on the song, and his estate sued in February for copyright infringement, among other claims. Z-Ro Arrested For Aggravated Assault
On Wednesday, Houston rapper Joseph McVey “Z-Ro” was arrested and charged with aggravated assault of a family member. Police arrested McVey after his ex-girlfriend, Brittany Bullock AKA Just Brittany, filed a complaint with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office about an incident she claims occurred in April near West Side Forest in the Katy area. Bullock backed up her claim with a 20-minute recording of the alleged assault. The Casper defense lawyers have not responded to the incident yet.
