With barely two months into 2016, the music industry has already seen a bevy of powerful losses. Maurice White, founding member of Earth, Wind & Fire passed away in his sleep today at age 74. The Memphis native was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the late ‘80s, forcing him off the stage by 1994. He founded Earth, Wind & Fire in 1969, and is the older brother of fellow member Verdine White. Model Drops Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Bill Cosby
Chloe Goins, the model who accused Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting her at the Playboy Mansion in 2008, has dropped her lawsuit against the embattled comedian. Goins, who was 18 at the time she claims she was assaulted, says she was drugged and woke up to Cosby “at my feet, kind of licking and kissing them and I think he bit my toe as that’s what woke me up…He jumped up, pulled his pants back up quickly and left.” Cosby’s lawyers claim he wasn’t in L.A. at the time Goins says she was assaulted, and in January the L.A. Rapper FiF Money Shot By Police
A Chicago man named Charles Smith, a rapper who went by the name FiF Money, was shot by police during an alleged home invasion that took place in the childhood home of Chicago Bulls player, Derrick Rose. According to DNA.info, Smith and his girlfriend, Breanna Patterson, broke in the home to find a man who allegedly robbed them. Neighbors called police to report a “person with a gun” involved in a “home invasion,” and when they showed up, Smith pointed his gun at police, prompting a shootout.
