#RIP to Legendary DJ Big Kap
Keith Carter aka Legendary DJ Big Kap passed away today[February 3, 2016] in NYC at the age of 45. As one of the premier DJs from New York’s Flip Squad DJ crew, Kap’s impact on NYC Hip Hop is unparalleled.
His most memorable project was The Tunnel album with Funkmaster Flex, featuring some of Hip Hop’s royalty including Jay-Z, Eminem, Nas, Dr. Dre and more. The album debuted at 35 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, shifting nearly 100,000 copies in its first week.
Many probably remember that Summer Jam video from 1995 of Biggie Smalls getting upset with Kap for messing up his set and throwing a bottle at the DJ. Regardless of this clip, Big and Kap had a very close relationship, with the Kap being very instrumental in Biggie’s success.
