A lifelong hip-hop listener and a genuine lover of performing arts, Dre decided it was time to make his name known to the world as a creator, personality and performer. His background as a Muslim shines in his music, which allows him to bring a unique perspective that no other artists are currently bringing in today’s music. Lyrically his music differentiates himself from his contemporary as he rarely mentions material items such as cars, diamonds, chains but instead chooses to focus on the struggles of racism, imperialism, being Muslim in America, etc. mUsa is not a “conscious rapper” nor is he a “backpack rapper.” His music can…

Carter Wilson – !!!!! @thacarterwilson
Carter Wilson’s debut masterwork “!!!!!” demonstrates how the cliched celebration of juvenile ignorance is carefully woven into an urgent, yet subtle, reflection of one’s personal and generational journey towards disillusionment. Thirteen minutes in and the listener encounters a voice sample reminding us that “when you live in an illusion, you remain in a state of perpetual infantilism, childishness. . . you never grow up!” This is the conceptual backdrop of the entire album; in fact, one word that was thrown around during the creation process was neoteny, a term which is defined as “the retention of juvenile features in the adult animal”. The album is an exposition of this phenomenon…
