Kodak Black Released from Jail
South Florida rap star Kodak Black is a free man after being released from the Broward County Jail. Black, whose real name is Dieuson Octave, was sentenced to 364 days in jail last month for violating house the terms of house arrest. As part of the sentence, Octave, 19, was ordered to complete an anger management/life skills course. Octave’s original 364-day sentence was then reduced to 180 days plus time-served. The original house arrest sentence stemmed from Octave’s 2016 conviction on robbery and kidnapping charges. Blacc Youngsta Arrested in Connection to Young Dolph Shooting
Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta on Tuesday was arrested on felony weapons charges in connection to the Young Dolph shooting in Charlotte during CIAA Weekend. Young Dolph, who was present for the festivities, was on his way to a show when his SUV was lit up with more than 100 rounds of ammunition. Earlier today [May 16th] Youngsta turned himself into police custody in connection with the shooting, although it is not clear to what extent he was involved. Kevin Gates Sentenced to 30 Months
Kevin Jerome Gilyard, 31, known by his stage name of Kevin Gates, of Baton Rouge, La., pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with a 2013 arrest, according to court records. Police records show Gilyard originally was arrested on an unlawful possession of a handgun charge about 8:10 p.m. Oct. 29, 2013, in the 7200 block of South Stony Island Avenue.
