It looks like the legal weight which has been sitting on Kevin Gates is about to lift. According to TMZ, the New Orleans rapper will be getting out on parole next Wednesday, January 10. Gates, real name Kevin Jerome Gilyard, got in trouble back in 2015 after he allegedly kicked a fan who grabbed onto his shorts during a concert. The Lakeland, Florida police department filed a criminal complaint against Gates, charging him with simple battery. Hip-hop pioneer Kidd Creole stabbed a homeless man to death on a Midtown street corner late Tuesday night, a police source said. Creole, whose real name is Nathaniel Glover, was arrested Wednesday and is expected to be charged in fatal knifing of a 55-year-old man at the corner of E. 44th St. and Third Ave. Glover, 57, was one of the members of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, a foundational hip-hop group formed in the South Bronx in the 1970s. Z-Ro Arrested For Aggravated Assault
On Wednesday, Houston rapper Joseph McVey “Z-Ro” was arrested and charged with aggravated assault of a family member. Police arrested McVey after his ex-girlfriend, Brittany Bullock AKA Just Brittany, filed a complaint with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office about an incident she claims occurred in April near West Side Forest in the Katy area. Bullock backed up her claim with a 20-minute recording of the alleged assault. The Casper defense lawyers have not responded to the incident yet. Kevin Gates Sentenced to 30 Months
Kevin Jerome Gilyard, 31, known by his stage name of Kevin Gates, of Baton Rouge, La., pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with a 2013 arrest, according to court records. Police records show Gilyard originally was arrested on an unlawful possession of a handgun charge about 8:10 p.m. Oct. 29, 2013, in the 7200 block of South Stony Island Avenue. Bridgeview Branch Court Judge Neil Linehan gave Gilyard credit for 34 days already spent in jail in the case, according to court records.
