The Diamond Awards formerly known as the Duval Diamond Awards inaugurated 17 years ago by Bigga Rankin was established to celebrate not only the major artists from the south, but as a way to put Duval on the map as a major entertainment market. Artists such as Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, Young Jeezy, Trina, 2Chainz, and most recently YFN Lucci won their first music awards at the Diamond Awards and went on to major stardom. This is not your average local awards show, we implemented community awards to honor Jacksonville businesses, entrepreneurs, as well as the youth. We are honored to say that every year we get “Bigga and Betta”.

Charlie Murphy Dies At 57
Charlie Murphy, the beloved comedian, writer and older brother of Eddie Murphy, has died after a battle with leukemia. He was 57. The funnyman passed away Wednesday morning at a New York City hospital, TMZ reported, citing his manager. He had been undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Murphy earned a tremendous fan base as a writer for “Chappelle’s Show,” on which he frequently appeared in sketches alongside star Dave Chappelle. He had a recurring segment on the Comedy Central series called “Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories,” which featured him comically recalling his unfortunate interactions with major 1980s stars such as Prince and Rick James when he was a member of his brother’s…

Chief Keef Arrested in Miami
People are getting a kick out of the mug shot taken of Chief Keef, following his arrest in Miami Beach on Saturday [April 8], and it is making its way around social media like wildfire. Keef was taken into custody and charged with felony DUI for failing a sobriety test. His vehicle had been stopped by authorities who claim to have witnessed it pull up alongside another vehicle, and watched as a man in the passenger seat of Keef’s car get out and make an exchange of what they believed to be drugs. R&B diva Keke Wyatt has confirmed that she’s expecting her ninth child with husband Michael Ford. In a statement released by her team, Wyatt says, “My family is excited. We come from big families where I’m from. YFN Lucci Arrested at Gunpoint, 3 Weapons Found
YFN Lucci spent a bit of time in police custody on Saturday, April 1. In fact, the ATL rapper’s arrest is said to have involved drama, as he reportedly found himself facing the barrels of several police firearms before being detained. According to the police report, YFN ignored orders to pull over as police trailed his ride in downtown Atlanta. The rapper did eventually get around to complying, but did so under duress, with officers having trained their guns on him as he slowly exited the vehicle.
