Iconic Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has passed away at the age of 91. A statement from Playboy Enterprises revealed that Hefner died of natural causes. Hefner’s son Cooper, who is Playboy Enterprises’ chief creative officer, released a statement reading, “My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom. Nick Cannon Joins Protesters in St. Louis
Actor and comedian Nick Cannon joined protesters in St. Louis frustrated with the acquittal of former officer Jason Stockley who fatally shot a black man in 2011. Over the last few days, protests have engulfed St.Louis as many are dissatisfied with the not guilty ruling handed by St. Louis Circuit Judge Timothy Wilson. Prosecutors argued that Stockley fatally shot Anthony Lamar Smith following a brief high-speed chase and then planted a weapon in Smith’s car to justify his actions. Solange Announces Hurricane Harvey Benefit Concerts
Solange Knowles has announced a new show to benefit Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. The Houston native announced on Instagram that the concert, titled “Orion’s Rise,” will take place in Boston’s Orpheum Theater on Sept. 28. Knowles will be joined on stage by jazz band The Sun Ra Arkestra. “I’m committed to partnering with organizations on the ground in Houston and making contributions to uplift the city that raised me with so much love,” the singer wrote on Instagram. Former President Barack Obama has been honored with his very own holiday in the state of Illinois. Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner signed into law Friday a measure to designate August 4th as “Barack Obama Day.” The holiday will be celebrated on President Obama’s birthday, beginning in 2018. Gov. It was announced on Monday, July 31, that Los Angeles will be hosting the 2028 Olympic Summer Games.
