The return of Cleveland Browns star Josh Gordon is in jeopardy as results of a March drug test are reported to have returned positive for marijuana. The news suppresses optimism within the Browns organization that the troubled receiver’s recent application for reinstatement will be granted, with league sources telling ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the process is sure to be delayed pending an observance of 60-90 days of no “red-flag tests” by NFL officials. Former New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith was shot and killed late Saturday in New Orleans, according to the Times-Picayune. He was 34. New Orleans police said Smith and his wife were the victims of a double shooting about 11:29 p.m. Saturday in the city’s Lower Garden District, the Times-Picayune reports. Smith and his wife reportedly were in their Mercedes SUV when a Hummer H2 struck their vehicle. Buffalo Bills’ LeSean McCoy Under Investigation
Early Sunday morning four current and former NFL players were allegedly involved in a fight that left two of three off-duty police officers hospitalized. Sources say LeSean McCoy, 27, Christopher Henderson, 26, Curtis Brinkley, 30, and Tamarcus Porter, 27, were inside the Recess Lounge in Philadelphia around 2:45 a.m. when they assaulted the cops over champagne. Officer Roland Butler was joined by Sgt. Daniel Ayres and Officer Darnell Jessie when Porter supposedly “tried to claim one” of their four bottles. Seattle Seahawks‘ running back, Marshawn Lynch, is reportedly retiring, and he may be walking away with $50 million. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted, “Teammates still attempting to change his mind, but Seahawks’ RB Marshawn Lynch has told some close to him he plans to retire, per sources.” Although the exit may be bittersweet for fans, the Super Bowl champ will be walking away financially set. According to Forbes, Lynch has been living off of his endorsements deals for nine seasons, banking away $49.7 million from his NFL contracts. Denver Broncos practice squad safety Ryan Murphy will be missing out on an opportunity to play in the Super Bowl after being questioned in a prostitution ring scandal on Tuesday (Feb. 2). Police staked out an area in San Jose that is known for prostitution, and they apprehended a suspected prostitute who said she was going to her car to pick up some personal property.
