Kevin Gates to be Released from Prison??
It looks like the legal weight which has been sitting on Kevin Gates is about to lift. According to TMZ, the New Orleans rapper will be getting out on parole next Wednesday, January 10. Gates, real name Kevin Jerome Gilyard, got in trouble back in 2015 after he allegedly kicked a fan who grabbed onto his shorts during a concert. The Lakeland, Florida police department filed a criminal complaint against Gates, charging him with simple battery. Judge Sentences Meek Mill to 2-4 Years Prison
A Philadelphia judge ruled that Meek Mill recently violated his probation after being arrested in March for misdemeanor assault and also in August for reckless driving and reckless endangerment. While both charges have been dropped, the judge ruled that the incidents violated Meek’s probation and he was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison. Kevin Gates Sentenced to 30 Months
Kevin Jerome Gilyard, 31, known by his stage name of Kevin Gates, of Baton Rouge, La., pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with a 2013 arrest, according to court records. Police records show Gilyard originally was arrested on an unlawful possession of a handgun charge about 8:10 p.m. Oct. 29, 2013, in the 7200 block of South Stony Island Avenue. Bridgeview Branch Court Judge Neil Linehan gave Gilyard credit for 34 days already spent in jail in the case, according to court records. LHH’s Mendeecees Denied Shorter Sentence
Mendeecees Harris is going to have to do all his time. The Love & Hip Hop star was denied his request to have his 8-year sentence for drug trafficking reduced. According to the Democrat & Chronicle, in early March, U.S. District Judge Frank Geraci Jr. denied Harris’ request to have his federal drug distribution sentence lessened by up to a third. Harris claims that he was actually a mule, rather than a proper drug dealer, and this was not considered when he was sentenced. Kodak Black to Remain in Jail
The Florida native’s scheduled March 10 court date concluded on an unresolved note, according to the Sun Sentinel. The rapper will attend a continuation of the hearing on March 20. The March 10 hearing was held to determine if there was enough evidence to consider Kodak a “danger” to Broward County residents. He was sent back to prison after a probation report revealed that he had violated the terms of his house arrest by attending a boxing match and failing to complete a mandatory anger management course. Brooklynite, Bobby Shmurda, was sentenced to 7 years in prison Wednesday [October 19]. The “Hot N****” rapper went from an internet sensation to a felon after pleading guilty to conspiracy and criminal possession of a weapon charge in September. According to the FADER, his attorney, Alex Spiro said “his sentence of 7 years, with credit for 2 years already served and good time credit will hopefully permit him to be home in approximately 3 1⁄2 years and resume his remarkable career. Bobby Shmurda Accepts Plea Deal
Bobby Shmurda along with two co-defendants, Chad “rowdy rebel” Marshall and Nicholas McCoy have accepted a plea deal which will start today, Monday. The “Hot N***a” rapper pleaded guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession. Due to the deal, Shumurda will not be able to appeal the sentence, but will be allowed to use his two-year time served as credit.
