Drake’s ‘Views’ Sells Over 820K in 2 Days
The word is still out on whether Drake’s Views lived up to its tremendous hype, but perhaps a more interesting note is how its rollout and Apple Music exclusivity adds to the changing nature of album sales and the metrics of success. After Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo was reportedly streamed over 250 million times over a 10 day period while it was still a Tidal exclusive, the question remained if such numbers were a product of West’s draw or an indication of how major albums would be released and measured in the new age of streaming. Producer Dez Dynamic Sues Tyga
Producer Dez Dynamic has filed a lawsuit against Tyga, as he claims the rapper didn’t pay him for working on “Molly,” a song featured on his third album, Hotel California. According to Bossip, Dynamic claims Tyga promised him $5,000 up front for working on the song and another $5,000 after it was finished. In addition to the $10,000 the producer says he was also promised 3.5% of album sales. Dez previously won a judgement forcing Universal Music Group to stop distribution of the song, but the producer says the company hasn’t complied with the ruling. He is now seeking an injunction against Universal and Tyga to stop distributing the song…
