Tone – Loops @toneraps

“Loops” is the latest single from Toneraps. He describes the release as, “a song that I made about a break-up I had in college. It speaks on a lot of the emotions that I was going through at that time. It also reflects on how I cope and grow regarding transitions in life like this. Survival tactics that I learned as a kid and growing up (though not all of them are always healthy).”

Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, poet and rapper Tone is in a literary league of his own. Ever since he was in the fifth grade, Tone knew he loved writing and telling stories. He learned that it was one of the only ways he could express himself as well as bring new things into this world from his own mind. When he reached the 10th grade he got involved with a slam poetry team who helped him harness his true potential as a writer.

After high school in Baton Rouge, LA, he attended Brown University on a full ride scholarship. During his Junior year at college, he released his first 4 track EP Nothing in Return (2017).

Following the release of his EP Tone has collaborated with many different artists from an array of diverse locations around the states and otherwise. In May of 2018, he graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Literary Arts & Poetry.

After the summer of his graduation, in October, Tone released the first instalment of the now 14-part music video series with his collective – Treehouse – called “Treestyle Fridays.” He is currently working on his debut full-length project.
