Judge Denies ‘Stand Your Ground’ Defense for Kevin Gates
LAKELAND — A judge on Thursday rejected a motion by rapper Kevin Gates that a misdemeanor battery charge against him be dismissed. Lawyers for Gates argued last week that the charge against him for kicking a fan at a club in Lakeland during a performance should be dropped based on Florida’s “stand your ground” law. Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s hit record “All The Way Up” featuring French Montana has officially been certified platinum. The single was released via Terror Squad Entertainment and Empire Distribution. Empire CEO Ghazi Shami presented Joe with a platinum plaque after he performed at the Empire Summer Classic in San Francisco. “All The Way Up” has peaked at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #9 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Adrien Broner was scheduled to be in court at 9am but got there at 12pm. Not only did he show up late but in the Judges eyes he looked drunk. The Judge asked Adrien “Have you been Drinking”?
