DJ Kool Herc Sues HBO
HBO’s series Vinyl, which is about the music industry in the 1970’s, has been a modest hit, but don’t count DJ Kool Herc as a fan. The man credited with creating Hip-Hop in The Bronx is suing the cable network over his portrayal on the show. Herc believes a character who is blatantly supposed to be him was used without proper permission. Bobby Shmurda Transferred To Another Jail
Ackquille Pollard aka Bobby Shmurda has been in jail since December 2014. According to XXL Mag, the charges brought against the rapper include two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, conspiracy to commit murder in the second degree, reckless endangerment, and one count of using drug paraphernalia. Shmurda’s bail was set at two million dollars, and has been appealed seven times by the rapper and his legal team. However, each time he appealed, he was denied. The Marin County Sheriff’s office reported on Tuesday morning (May 3) that Afeni Shakur Davis, the mother of late rapper Tupac Shakur, died on Monday night at age 69.
